Targeted, evidence-based treatment to relieve pain and restore movement
Acupuncture is a dry-needling technique using fine sterile needles to reduce pain and inflammation and improve function and mobility.
Maggie is certified in Anatomical Acupuncture through the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute (CAFCI). Medical/anatomical acupuncture blends Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western principles; needle placement targets the injury site (rather than meridians alone) and remain in the specific meridian for 10+ minutes. Needling stimulates sensors that trigger the brain and spinal cord to release natural pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory chemicals.
Maggie is also a certified Gunn IMS (Intramuscular Stimulation) practitioner. IMS is a gentle dry-needling treatment for persistent muscle-related pain. Fine, sterile needles are inserted into tight or shortened muscles to release tension, reduce nerve irritation, and restore normal movement. They do not remain in the body for more than a couple of seconds.
What to expect:
- Quick, targeted treatment—usually a few brief needle insertions per area.
- You may feel a brief deep ache or twitch; soreness for 24–48 hours is possible.
- Most people notice improved comfort and movement after a few sessions.
Common uses:
- Chronic back, neck, or shoulder pain
- Sciatica and leg pain
- Recurrent muscle strains and tension headaches
Safety: Performed by a trained clinician using sterile needles; minor bruising or soreness is the most common side effect.
